Consultation & Feasibility Study
Before embarking on any project the most import aspect is to define Project Goal. SWCogen acts as your in-house technical consultant to understand your and site needs and develop the optimal solution for you. We seek the best return on the lifecycle of a plant (what we call Total Cost of Ownership), rather than the capital investment alone.

  • The process begins with the Client Consultation and Feasibility Study phases, each typically taking 1-2 months. The consultation includes an audit of the site and plant load data, which we use to develop a conceptual design for your review. After agreement on the conceptual design, we undertake a detailed feasibility study.
  • During the Feasibility Study, we capture direct and indirect costs from gas and electricity utility bills, evaluate load data with sophisticated, in-house statistical tools, and create a probability analysis of energy demand. We use real-world financial modelling to consider applicable taxes, incentives, and O&M, fuel and opportunity costs.
  • With the data we compile, we determine the best technologies and plant conguration for a project and calculate its savings, payback, IRR, and ultimate viability.

Project Planning, Design & Engineering
When we have determined that a project is viable, we finalize the scope and then begin and execute a detailed process of design and engineering for the plant, including incentive realization support. Once the project scope and design and engineering are finalized and agreed upon, we can begin construction. We begin the procurement process by identifying and finalizing the most suitable technology provider, vendors for boilers, chillers, control and instrumentation, CHP packager and civil and installation subcontractors.
Financial & Incentive Structuring
SWCogen’s goal is to deliver the best life-cycle return on a CHP project. It begins with our expertise in turnkey solutions and operation and maintenance services, which help clients realize maximum incentives for facilities. But we go well beyond that, by extending our customization of projects to include the financial and incentive structuring.

We (along with our associate companies) offer clients a several agreement types so they can choose the one that best fits their circumstances and objectives. These agreement types encompass a wide range of ownership (client or investor), plant operating risk, and transaction options. Here are the types of agreements you may choose from:

Project Construction
SWCogen goal is to ensure timely and quality delivery of Projects. We understand that site construction can sometimes be a major project bottlenecks. Here is where we derive maximum value from our Parent company, for whom Construction is in its DNA.

  • SWCogen’s overall control of the procurement and construction process ensures that the project is designed and constructed to optimally meet project goals in terms of efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
  • We provide full project management, logistics, installation, and integration of the engines, additional equipment based on the specic application (generator, boiler, chiller), and controls (operations, interventions).
  • We ensure that all the permits and clearance are in place and all the local construction norms are being followed to ensure a smooth and timely delivery of Projects.
  • We have a detailed project execution philosophy and project control structure that encourages proactive interventions. We follow strict site safety standards to avoid any undesirable events

Testing & Commissioning
SW Cogen provides direction for the commissioning process during construction and acceptance phase of a project so as the project finally built is as per Client expectations.  We focus on providing resolution for issues and providing details that cannot be, or were not, fully developed during design phase, such as scheduling, participation of various parties of this particular project, actual lines of reporting and approvals, coordination, etc.

Commissioning during the construction of this project is intended to achieve the following specific objectives:

  • Ensure that applicable equipment and systems are installed properly and receive adequate operational checkout by installing contractors.
  • Verify and document proper performance of equipment and systems.
  • Ensure that O&M documentation left on site is complete.
  • Ensure that the Sequence of Operation meets the design intent.
  • Ensure that the Owner’s operating personnel are adequately trained.

Operation & Maintenance
SWCogen designs plants with a goal of cost-effective, hassle-free operations and maintenance for the project’s complete lifecycle. After installation, we continue to support you with deep industry relationships reaching down to the local level and a full range of optional and standard O&M packages, designed to provide optimal exibility, reliability and security with rapid response time.

Our packages provide options for technical service, labor, parts and consumables. Depending on the solution you choose, these services may be offered on an on-call, annual maintenance contract, long-term service or complete O&M basis. In addition, we provide reliability and security with 24/7 remote access to plant data through state of art, cloud technology that serves as an integrated control and instrumentation feature.
